Smiling Tears

“Why are you crying?” a little girl asked a flower.

“Today it rained and washed away all my pain, longing and dryness,” replied the flower.

“You should be happy but you are still crying,” the girl was confused.

“I couldn’t be happier,” the flower said. “I missed it every moment. Finally it poured over and made me whole again.”

“So your tears are not for sorrow?” she asked.

“No little friend, my tears are for hope, joy and gratitude,” the flower assured her.

“You had smiling tears,” she said slyly.
